2:12 pm Thu, May 07, 2009 - One more final and a party!
Hello! I'm going to a party for people who took Japanese at my college tonight! I bought a bunch of Japanese snacks for it too. Two plastic bags worth, lol. I know I went overboard a bit but I really wanted to share a bunch of treats with everyone. I have my last final tonight and it is in my Japanese Cinema class! That is going to be really easy so I'm not worried. I'll post pictures of the party in the gallery later.

So, now that school is almost over and done with what am I planning you ask/think? I'm going to work on PTP first and foremost so I can have the first graphic novel done before the convention. I'm also going to try to have the first Corp. Agent's book ready for publication by the end of the year. I don't think these goals are too lofty right now. I'm also going to research into getting my teaching license so hopefully I'll have that sometime within the next year or so.

Well, that's it for now. Talk to ya'll later.

3:49 pm Sun, May 03, 2009 - Wow, it has been a WHILE!
Hello everyone! I know it has been a long time since I said anything but I am still here. I've been really busy this semester, and sick, and this past week my grandfather died. I had to go to his funeral on Thursday and Friday. I spent a good deal of Wednesday getting things ready for it though. I have only two finals next week, Math and Japanese Cinema, and then I graduate!(Hopefully, lol. I'm not so good at math...)

I am going to a convention this year! I'll update here with more information so if you're in the area you can come visit me and Ravyn. We're doing a table together. It is going to be in Arizona, I know that much. :)So maybe I'll see you there!

Toodles for now! :)

3:02 pm Fri, Jan 09, 2009 - Very...Tired!
Hello everyone. I'm still recovering from my three day trip to Cincinnati this week.

On Tuesday we headed down there and met two people to look at three houses that are for rent. Since we bought last year, it technically hasn't even been a year yet, we don't have money for a down payment so we're going to be renting. The first house was big, had no pet deposit or extra per month, and the owner seemed really on the ball. The other two were from the same landlord and they were...needing improvement badly and he seemed like he would only fix it if we complained. On one of them there were missing gutters, the storm door was kicked in on the bottom, the stove was missing a hinge and looked like it was from the 1930's, the carpets looked like 20 animals lived in the house before and it was just bad! So we're passing on those two.

After we were done looking at those three we drove around to look at what ever section of Cinti it was, eventually they all ran together for me so I can't give details. We decided to eat at a place that isn't in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area so we chose Red Robbin. It was ok, I regret what I got because Hardee's could totally kick that burger's butt. The fries were good and the appetizer was excellent. It had some really good art prints on the wall too.

Wednesday we met a Realtor and she showed us 8 different properties, 3 of which were apartment complexes. Of those 8 we narrowed it down to 1 house and 1 apartment. The house was recently renovated upstairs, but the basement was unfinished, and not in the way some people say "unfinished" but this had the flooring taken out, bare wood supports showing and such. We'd also have to buy a washer and dryer for our laundry. The yard was bare, but cute. I could work with it :). And he wanted extra/month and a pet deposit for Fry.

The apartment was nice, had almost the same upstairs square foot as the house but no potential downstairs space and the laundry would be 1.25 for each load for washing AND drying (sep). It had UPS package holding (I order a lot of things) and was located by Jungle Jim's.

We contacted the house landlord to see if we could get money off for (1) Helping to finish the basement and (2) Fry is declawed and neutered. He came back with (1) He'll buy the supplies and such but no off monthly (which is better actually), and (2) No extra a month and a 250 refundable pet deposit. We're probably going to be going with the house.

SO on Thursday we drove to downtown and looked around a bit, never got out of the car though, and then we went to several different businesses. They've got so many that aren't here I'm excited just for the shopping possibilities! They've got so many art stores! And the city is arts oriented a bit too so they've always got things to do. They also have several Japanese restaurants too! And we ate at a LaRosa's and Skyline Chili. I loved LaRosa's and can't wait to go back but Skyline had weird tasting chili. Tasted like it had nutmeg or cinnamon or something. Ew.

And then...we went to Jungle Jim's. Holy...Crap that store is huge! I went to the international area and was very pleased. I am so going to shop there! So many things to choose from and they had some really good prices too. Not too bad. They were running a special when we were there for bandannas. 18 CENTS a POUND!

Well, I'm just so tired. We ate diner at Hardee's on the way home since the closes one to the Lafayette/West Lafayette area is about 1hr away. MMmmm...thick burger....

I got a phone call yesterday from my mom that my dad was getting heart surgery today at 12:00. I just got a phone call from my brother and apparently it went well. He's being ornery and my mom feels sorry for the nurses. He and his family make terrible patients. When my uncle had a heart attack he wouldn't go in an ambulance, drove himself to the hospital and then argued with the doctors and nurses! He kept ripping out his IV and saying "You doctors don't know a damn thing, I'm not having a heart attack!" But thankfully my dad is generally more peaceful than that.

Today we had a meeting with our Realtor for how much we should list the house at and he suggested 144,900! We only paid 136,000 so woo if someone buys it at that. Apparently right now though there aren't any other houses for sale in the area that are the same square foot and style. Weird, and in the past few years only 2 other similar houses have been sold, not including ours of course. So far everyone's been positive that we'll sell quickly, it hits the market in February. Well, that's all for now, this thing is long enough.

Toodles! I start school on Monday.

2:24 pm Wed, Oct 15, 2008 - Contest is Over and Fall/October Break happenings

Summer Contest is over! Judging is now in session. Ravyn and I will get back to you guys once we have crowned a winner. But with us the fun is never over! Please head over to the PTP forum for a fun Halloween event we are hosting. I’m writing a short story for it so please stop by and read on Halloween!

And now for something different…

This October break was very…tiring.

On Sunday I went to work at 2:00pm. I spent a few hours with my former boss, she retired but still helps out with this, and two teenage boys lugging about 150-200 posters from one side of campus to the other and then unloading them. This was for a program the University’s Visual Arts Committee puts on each October break where people come in with either donations or posters they’re borrowing and checks out new prints. It is like a library only it is with posters instead of books and they get to keep them for about three years.

The first day was really busy. It was for people who donated money to the program and people returning prints that they’d had for three years. The first session, for the donors, went very smoothly and I didn’t feel rushed at all. But then the second session started. People were bringing in an average of two posters each, with a few people bringing in ten or more. So our poster total was very hard to keep track of. A few of the other workers and I took the posters that people were returning and tried to repair any damages as quickly as I could. We then tried to find the check out card people were supposed to fill out to borrow the poster and place it out for stock. This kept us incredibly busy since so many people came by.

The second day was more of the same until that day’s second session. It was specifically for people new to the program so no one was returning posters. I got a chance to really tackle the repair pile and when the whole thing was over we had I would guess about sixty posters left. Not bad really, it is less than we had last year. After the last session yesterday my former boss and I loaded up as many posters as we could and carted them back across the university’s campus to the temporary storage area. Then today we did the rest and man am I tired! Those posters weigh a lot when you’ve got a huge cart of them.

But now I am so worn out and tired. I hurt my hand by smashing it between the cart and a door. My right had still hurts…but I can still move my fingers and such so I’m not worried. Probably just bruised.

Well kids, that’s all for now. I’ve got a bunch of homework and PTP to work on so I wish you luck and happiness!

Ally B.
